Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge

Made my first trip to the Wertheim Refuge. Established in 1947, Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge protects 2,550 acres on the south shore of Long Island. The refuge is bisected by the Carmans River, a New York state designated scenic river and one of the largest rivers on the island. The winter has been mild as of date with little snow cover. The yearlings are having an easier time finding food. For more information about the Refuge - https://www.fws.gov/refuge/wertheim
